The Lesson Of Time

When I was younger

I did not treasure time—

day in and day out

I believed it would never end

Those days I squandered

chasing what was vain

lost in procrastination

and empty pursuits

I wish I had known then

how precious time was—

that each moment well tended

could ripen into

a cherished memory

But now I know

remorse is a thief

so I will let the fruitless past be buried

and not waste the present on regret

for time lost is never found again
